Spring 2018 Newsletter – People of Progress

In an effort to share our story, People of Progress will be sending a quarterly newsletter to keep you apprised of what’s happening at POP.  You make a difference on a daily basis, and you’re the reason we are able to serve over 1,000 people in Shasta County every month.

While we may get some large donations and grants, our strength is a result of the many $10 to $100 donations, and the donations of food, clothing and other items. This broad base of support is vital to our success and speaks to the difference we can make together.

Thank you for your support. Together we will continue to provide some security to those in need.

The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts recently donated over 3000 lbs of food (and cookies, of course, through their food drive!
Here’s a great way to support POP and our clients – we have a wishlist on Amazon where you can order what you want and it ships directly to us!
The food I receive here helps me take care of others

My name is Elizabeth and I’ve come to POP regularly since I had back surgery a few years ago. Before my surgery, I worked full-time and had the finances I needed to take care of myself.  Now I’m working part-time and raising my grandsons, who I’ve had since they were 2 and 4.

Making sure I can help them with her homework and make meals for them is important to me. Finding a job that pays enough and allows me to be around for them is my goal.

People of Progress has helped me stretch my finances to make it through each month. When you’re living paycheck to paycheck like I am, coming here means I have enough food and clothing for both me and my grandsons. I even got a turkey for Thanksgiving and a Christmas gift bags for my grandsons.

There have been times in my life when I was able to donate to organizations like POP, but now, I need the help.  So don’t take it lightly that you’re able and willing to help.  Thank you.  I hope you know how much we appreciate you.

Our food pantry is stocked and ready to serve clients every Monday thru Friday 9am – 12pm. Clients are able to receive food once per month.

Thank you to our business and charity partners who help make our work possible!
